Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need this course?

There are many reasons to take a driver improvement course like ours. The court may require it for ticket dismissal or fee reduction. The DMV may require it to prevent license suspension due to excess demerit points. Others take the course proactively to earn up to five safe driving points or an auto insurance discount. Before registering, ensure you are eligible for your purpose.

How can I pay for the course?

Most students pay by credit or debit card. These payments are taken over our secure server during registration.

How long is this course? Do I have to do it all at once?

The Virginia DMV requires that all approved driver improvement courses meet a minimum of eight credit hours. Some students take it in one sitting, while others take the course on their own schedule. You can log on an off as you wish — our system saves your place.

Can I take this course for an insurance discount?

Yes. Many insurance companies offer discounts to drivers who have taken a DMV-approved driver improvement course, such as ours. Check your provider's policy before you register.

What if I don't have internet at home?

No problem! Our easy Virginia Online Driver Improvement course allows you to work from any internet-enabled device — PC, tablet, or mobile. It doesn't even need to be your own. Take the course anywhere, so long as you have an internet connection. You can use a friend or family member's internet or device, and even start the course on one device and finish on another. Log on and off as you please. Your progress will automatically be saved.

When will I get my completion certificate?

We automatically report your course completion to the Virginia DMV within one business day, and you'll receive a certificate of completion by email within 24 hours of finishing the course.

What if my deadline has passed?

If your course completion due date has already passed, you'll need to contact the court or DMV for an extension. Unfortunately, we are unable to grant extensions. However, if your due date is very close, our course is fast enough to finish quickly — many complete it in one day!

Do I need to attend a test site in person for the final exam?

No, you can complete your course and exam 100% online. The Virginia DMV formerly required online driver improvement students take their final exams in person at an authorized test site, but this is no longer a state requirement.

Prior to starting the final exam, you will need to confirm your identity. You will be asked to answer some personal questions when you register for the course, and you must correctly answer those same questions before you can begin your exam.

What is a test site? Do I have to attend one?

Test sites are forms of verification, so the Virginia DMV requires that online driver improvement students take their final exams at an approved test site to ensure they are the person completing the exam. We make this process easy by providing free locations across the state — you choose the site most convenient for you. You'll take your final exam on a computer at one of these locations. There is no cost for the exam.

How do I get started?

Register online in less than five minutes or contact us and we can get you started over the phone. You'll be able to begin the course immediately.
