Driver improvement test sites
The Virginia DMV requires all driver improvement students to take their final exam at an authorized test site location, which are located across the state. There is no charge for the final exam.
After you complete the Virginia Online Driver Improvement course, you'll be prompted to choose a test site close to you for your final exam. Once you successfully pass the exam, we process your completion certificate and mail it to you. Best of all, we also report your completion to the DMV – within one business day — so you don't have to!

What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to bring your state-issued I.D. for verification purpose, plus the user name and password you used to register for the course. The final exam is closed-book, so you won't be allowed to bring any notes or study materials.
How does the final exam work?
There are 25 multiple-choice questions, and you must score at least 80% to pass. The test is taken online at a secure site that only our authorized test sites can access. You'll know immediately if you've passed the exam. You can retake the final as many times as you need to achieve a passing grade, although additional testing fees may be required.
